ADTC and edaWorkshop24
In 2024, the edaWorkshop24 was organized together with the European Nanoelectronics Applications, Design & Technology Conference (ADTC). The joint event took place from April 9 - 10, 2024 in Dresden.
About the program:
The event included two keynotes (from Intel and Zuken), a panel discussion titled “Fostering Industry Engagement in the Chips Act” and several technical sessions dedicated to the following current topics, where the latest technical results of European R&D projects were presented. The session topics were:
- Chiplets,
- Green / Sustainable Electronics,
- Design Platforms,
- Edge-AI,
- RISC-V and
- Verification of Trustability.
In the above-mentioned panel discussion, current activities in the context of the EU Chips Act (e.g. European Design Platform, Pilot Lines, Chips Joint Undertaking) were discussed. Of course, the edaWorkshop also featured its typical extensive poster session.
We would like to thank all participants for the professional exchange between science and application!

About edaWorkshop and ADTC
Since 2009, the two established events edaWorkshop and ADTC have been held together in Dresden every two years. They share a common day and thus offer an efficient and exciting platform for cooperation and technical exchange between R&D projects and leading experts from all over Europe.
The edaWorkshop is the central German event on EDA in the sense of electronics, design and applications as well as in the classic sense of electronic design automation and the ADTC, the European Nanoelectronics Applications, Design & Technology Conference, known as CATRENE DTC until 2015, is a counterpart at European level. The last time this cooperation took place was in 2019 from May 14 to 16 in Dresden.
Mission of edaWorkshop and ADTC
The focus of the event is an intensive technical exchange between the leading European experts in the areas addressed, regardless of the research programs in which the individual projects were launched. CATRENE, PENTA, ECSEL, Horizon 2020, national research programs - ADTC and edaWorkshop bring them all together for a joint technical workshop. This perfectly complements the European Forum on Electronics, Components and Systems (EFECS), which is dedicated to strategic and political discussions.
The three-day event is a balanced combination of information and communication. It offers a broad spectrum of discussions on specialist topics and EDA research projects and provides many opportunities for networking. This is supported by an extensive poster exhibition, in which demonstrations and prototypes are also presented.
With a mix of representatives from industry and academic research, the event creates ideal conditions for a professional exchange of ideas and results on a scientific basis. The dialog can pave the way for industry to benefit from the research results.
The approximately 100 participants include project managers and leading experts from R&D projects in the fields of nanoelectronics, design technologies and their applications, representatives from the research and development departments of semiconductor manufacturers, as well as microelectronics experts from areas such as automotive and Industry 4.0 and numerous research institutions from the European scientific community.
Funding concept
ADTC/edaWorkshop are organized as a collaborative event for experts in the field of EDA. All participants benefit from the intensive exchange of information and share the costs, which are kept low. It is a non-profit event, the local organizers receive no remuneration for their work. Most participants actively contribute to the event, e.g. as speakers or panelists, so participation is not free of charge.
History
The successful edaWorkshop and CATRENE DTC and ADTC events in Dresden attracted more than 120 participants in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
