Working Group edaKI

Objectives of the edaKI Working Group

The edaKI Working Group is an initiative of the edacentrum, established under the exploitation framework of the funded projects modularKI (01MK19026A-C) and PEDAL (16ES0288).

AI as a Cross-Cutting Theme Across Application Domains
The overarching goal of the working group is to accelerate the transfer of research results into industrial R&D practice, thereby driving innovation in development processes. This entails the rapid adoption of innovative microelectronic solutions for the development and manufacturing of end products. The group aims to optimize all development processes across the entire value chain—from microelectronics to components, systems, and final automotive products.

Conceptualizing the value chain as an "innovation relay" (analogous to a relay race in athletics) clarifies the approach. Additionally, the working group seeks to transform the traditional sequential adoption of innovations into parallel, concurrent workstreams across different innovation segments through enhanced collaboration along the value chain. To achieve this, a thorough assessment and analysis of the status quo is required to derive actionable measures. Optimization opportunities are expected both at local technical levels and across interdisciplinary processes. Implementation of these measures will be pursued through collaborative projects, with the aim of integrating the resulting methods and tools into the operational workflows of industry partners.

The edaKI Working Group distinguishes itself from existing industry-focused or national groups by actively involving research institutions, maintaining an international outlook, and initiating R&D projects to achieve its technical objectives.

Membership

Eligibility for membership is open to:

  • Commercial enterprises with a registered office or branch in Germany conducting R&D activities aligned with the goals of the edaKI Working Group.
