A so-called "card-verification value" (Visa terminology: CVV2) or "card-verification code" (Eurocard/Mastercard terminologiy: CVC2) has been added to the credit card number to help improve security in the remote-transaction sector (mail, telephone and internet order) when the credit card in not physically presented to the merchant.
Without specification by the CVV2 credit card transaction is not possible any more. For credt card payments please fill in the CVV2 in the declarated fields of the registrateion forms.
The following pictures show where to find the CVV2 of your credit card:
Visa-Card
The3-digit CVV2 can be found on the rear of the credit card in the signature field, following the print replica of the credit card number embossed on the front of the plastic. The value is only printed and is not contained in the magnetic-stripe data.
Eurocard/Mastercard
The3-digit CVC2 can be found on the rear of the credit card in the signature field, following the print replica of the credit card number embossed on the front of the plastic. The value is only printed and is not contained in the magnetic-stripe data.
American Express
The 4-digit CVV2 can be found on the front side of the card, half way down the right-hand side, above the credit card number.
