Improving the Partnerships in the Design System Value Chain - an Infineon Perspective

Abstract

In times of increasing CAD requirements like DFM and DFY, complex methodologies such as for low-power designs as well as the move towards system level design, it becomes crucial to establish different and deeper partnerships between EDA users and EDA vendors for the development of integrated design systems.

In this talk Infineon's approach to establish new innovative partnerships with its EDA vendors is outlined. It aims at driving major improvements in the development and deployment of Infineon's integrated design system as well as its implications to EDA business models.

Biography

Thomas Harms Director Alliance Management Base Technologies & Services Communication Solutions Infineon Technologies AG

Thomas Harms has 17 years experience working in central CAD organizations at Infineon and previously at Motorola. He held various positions including program manager for design systems and reuse and technical marketing and applications manager, before his current function as Director, Alliance Management as part of the central CAD organization at Infineon.

In this function he and his team are responsible for definition and implementation of EDA vendor strategies in line with the Infineon CAD strategy and the implementation of new partnership models. This includes the responsibility for all EDA contract negotiations for Infineon worldwide and the provision of EDA licenses to all Infineon sites.

He received his diploma degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1989.
