EDA Cluster Research Projects

The edacentrum has started a new research initiative in Germany, supported by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and leading German microelectronics companies. It targets to boost EDA areas that have outstanding importance for Germany. It concentrates on supporting German research institutes which work on EDA issues in order to strengthen their skills and knowledge and to initiate cluster research in EDA.

Cluster research projects will improve basic methods in Electronic Design Automation (EDA). New methods and tools will be analyzed and developed to improve an industrial design flow environment. Research results should prepare EDA flow development initiatives that make new methodologies available for standard flow application in 5-10 years.

There are synergies with EDA-tool development, application, and teaching. Every year a project with EDA experts will be started in Germany. Cluster research projects will become a key instrument to enhance the productivity in IC development in the future.
